MIRANTE DO LEBLON – A PRIVILEGED VIEW

MIRANTE DO LEBLON
This lookout is located at Leblon Beach, a neighborhood at the south area of Rio de Janeiro. In fact, the space was built on a wooden deck (decks or boards). It is at the end of Leblon beach and the beginning of Niemeyer Av., on the rocks and also has a wooden fence.
Along the beach there are coconut trees and Portuguese stones, which extend all along the beach to Leme. From the viewpoint you can have a view of the entire waterfront of Leblon, Ipanema and São Conrado.

This place is famous for the views it offres and is not by chance it’s very well known for cariocas. And the cool thing is that no matter where you look, you’ll be enchanted anyway. A lot of people just sit in the small wall to enjoy the view.
If you start from the left side you’ll have the view of Leblon and Ipanema beach. If you look to the end of the beach, you can see the famous Arpoador rock (one of the places to enjoy the sunset). Still on the left side you can see one of the wonders of the world: Christ the Redeemer!

To the right side of the lookout you can see mountains and hills. One of them is Two Brothers Hill, Vidigal Favela, one part of the beach and the beautiful Sheraton Hotel! At this point, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see!
Just like from Ipanema beach, watching the sunset from Mirante do Leblon is breathtaking. This is undoubtedly one of the best spots for this activity.It is truly amazing to relax by the sea, watching the city light up. Once at the lookout you can sit and enjoy some drinks and snacks. There are two spaces at the place, such as kiosks, with menu and price very similar. These places offer some beverage options such as coconut water, fruit juices, beer and caipirinhas. Also have a menu with snacks.

Here at the lookout you can find people doing fishing! It’s no joke. In this case, it is a leisure activity. Those who wish to relax after a busy day of work, visit the area with their equipment and enjoy the view of the beach, either near the wall or sitting on the stools there.

HOW TO GET TO THE LOOKOUT
There are some ways to get to Leblon beach and lookout, among them: public transportation, private car, bicycle or walking.
1 Using Metro Rio, the station you will need to disembark is ANTERO DE QUENTAL.
2 Leaving the station, there is a square with the same name and the lookout is not far from the place.
3 You can continue walking or riding a bike there, enjoy and go down the oceanfront.
If you will use buses to get to the lookout, depending on the location you are located, some lines pass nearby, they are:
1 525 (General Osório x Alvorada)
2 TRONCAL 4 (São Conrado x Rodoviária)
3 TRONCAL 9 (Central x São Conrado)
4 INTEGRADA 9 (Rio Sul x Piabas)
If you prefer to go to the lookout using a private car, be aware that the place has parking, but with a very small space. Usually on sunny summer days or vacations it is very difficult to find vacancies there.

Leblon is a quieter neighborhood than neighbors Ipanema and Copacabana, but just like any other tourist place you need some care and attention.
When walking along the beach, always avoid going out with a lot of valuables and bank cards. Go relaxed with the money you think you need to enjoy a few hours on the street.
