Attractions at the Food Tour Rio de Janeiro

Cafe do Alto: The first stop of the tour is a traditional north-east brazilian style restaurant. Here we’ll serve you a plate full of different brazilian food. The plate we offer is exclusive for the people attending to food tour, you won’t get it on your own. Nice atmosphere in the heart of Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa: After eating, we will walk through the neighbourhood of Santa Teresa, seeing beautiful street art and architecture on the way. Santa Teresa used to be an upscale area of Rio, where all the rich coffee barons lived. Many of these houses are well preserved, and walking around Santa’s streets it feels like we travelled back in time. Santa’s most famous bakery: If you ask from any Santa Teresa resident where’s the best cheese bread of Santa, everyone will point you this tiny local bakery we will pass by during the tour as well. Parque das Ruinas: A park in one of the highest points of Santa Teresa which has great views of downtown Rio, the Guanabara Bay, the Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer. This park also has a ruins of the old house of Laurinda Santos Lobo. She came from a noble and rich family, and her house worked as an amphitheater for the parties of the elite of Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century.

What other travelers thought about the Rio de Janeiro  Food Tour?

Another great Rio Free Walker Tour! My husband and I loved the Rio Free Walker Tours (we did all of them apart from the Ipanema Pub Crawl). Rio is a dangerous city and exploring on foot with a FWT guide makes it feel comfortable and safe. All the guides we had were friendly, fun and very informative. The other people who joined the tours were fun to meet and interesting too. On this particular tour we got to explore Santa Teresa and try delicious food and drinks from all over Brazil. We would highly recommend it!   Great tour! Had two excellent tours in rio: the free walker tour with Carol and the food tour in Santa Teresa with Natalia. Both tours were truly excellent. Highly recommend   Knowledgeable and easy to talk to We met Natalia in the specified location at 2pm. On this particular occasion my wife and I were the only 2 people to turn up for the tour which is usually much busier. But Natalia was really enthusiastic about the tour despite this and booked us an Uber rather than having to catch the bus which would usually be the case. We were dropped at the main crossroads in Santa and treated to an excellent lunch. A Brazilian iced tea with lime and local fruit juice accompanied a range of sampling foods that culminated in fresh passion fruit and a tapioca banana dessert that really hit the spot. From there we were taught about the local street art, architecture and ushered to some fantastic viewing points before ending the food element of the tour with acia juice and a cheese bread from Santa’s hottest bakery. The end of the tour wasn’t the end though as we were left with a pouch of Brazilian sweets and Natalia’s contact details in case we got into any trouble and need some help from a native speaker. In summary great food and best tour guide ever.
